Anita Klugman

Artist, mother, creator, teacher. Anita spent a decade on an artist's commune. The results of that experience are many but the most significant and life altering to Anita was the birth of her son Jason. Anita realized early on that her son was special. She glows as she describes his ability to embrace life, his unique energy, and his unbridled curiosity. When asked about Jason’s father, whose identity has never been certain except that he... "must have been one of the beautiful creators who shared the universe with us at the commune." She observes, “Who Jason's father may be is not as important as what he may be. After all, what is a father if not a mother with a penis? Life is a never ending circle, filled with possibilities.” Anita’s eclectic home is filled with artwork, mostly nudes of herself that were painted by “friends, lovers, and fellow travelers,” during her time on the commune. Anita has a guesthouse in her backyard that she rents to Don Wimmer. Anita uses the term rent loosely, as Don has negotiated a deal with her that includes many household responsibilities in lieu of actual cash. She is pleased, however, to have Don’s help and believes that he is a positive male role model for her son Jason.
